About the funder
The Ambulatory Judicial Social Service of Lower Saxony is an institution of the Lower Saxony Judiciary based in Oldenburg. With approximately 450 employees, the AJSD provides outpatient social services statewide in the areas of probation assistance, supervisory control, court assistance, and offender-victim mediation. It supports adult and juvenile offenders in their reintegration, prepares usable reports for courts and public prosecutors, arranges community service, and facilitates extrajudicial conflict resolution. Furthermore, the AJSD cooperates closely with private organizations, networks for offender and victim support, and promotes volunteer engagement. As part of the judiciary, the AJSD contributes to prevention, the strengthening of internal security, and the support of victims.

Target groups
The services of the AJSD are aimed at adult and juvenile offenders in probation and supervisory proceedings, participants in court assistance procedures, as well as victims of crimes and their relatives. The goal is social reintegration, the avoidance of substitute custodial sentences, the facilitation of community service, and out-of-court conflict resolution and reparation between offenders and victims.
