The Social Department is one of five departments within the Directorate of Social Affairs and Health at the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government, based in Linz. Under the leadership of Hofrat Mag. Cornelia Altreiter-Windsteiger, it is responsible for central tasks in the areas of social affairs and social welfare provider for the state (SHL) in accordance with the official division of responsibilities of the office. Its main duties include the management, coordination, and implementation of measures as well as the provision of social welfare services for needy individuals in the state of Upper Austria.
