About the funder
The Directorate for Environment and Water Management is a central administrative unit within the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government. It is responsible for the professional management and coordination of all environmental and water management matters in the state of Upper Austria: This includes the development and implementation of planning frameworks (Water Framework Directive, river basin management plans, flood protection), monitoring and quality assurance through the Environmental Testing and Monitoring Agency, environmental and plant law, technical planning in environmental and construction matters, as well as the professional support and approval of water management projects and facilities. Within the Directorate, there are four departments – Plant, Environmental and Water Law; Environmental, Construction and Plant Engineering; Environmental Protection; Water Management – each with independent focal areas and specialized divisions.
