About the funder

The Andreas Gärtner Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation with the number 15.21 04-171, dedicated exclusively to people with intellectual disabilities. Founded by Hermann Gärtner in memory of his son Andreas, the foundation has been supporting projects to improve the quality of life for those affected for many years. Funded initiatives include the construction and operation of residential homes (e.g., the "Haus Andreas" at the Wittekindshof in Bad Oeynhausen for 36 severely disabled individuals, completed in 1999), the training of assistance dogs, vehicles for disabled persons, and other support services. The foundation guarantees that every donation is passed on directly to the beneficiaries without any deductions.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is the consistent support of people with intellectual disabilities. We believe that participation and dignity of each individual are strengthened when targeted housing, care, and assistance services are implemented. Through transparent use of funds and long-term commitment, we aim to relieve families and enable those affected to lead a self-determined life.

Target groups

The foundation supports people with intellectual and often additional physical disabilities, as well as their relatives. It is particularly aimed at individuals and families who require assistance for costly residential and care projects, assistance dogs, aids, or one-time grants. Applications are reviewed once a year during the advisory board meeting.
