About the funder

The Barmeyer-Doerth Foundation was established in 1998 at the Leopoldinum Gymnasium in Detmold and today bears the name of the two teachers and friends Ernst Barmeyer († 1945) and Karl Friedrich Doerth (1909–1997). It supports students of the Leopoldinum based on outstanding academic achievements and social commitment. Since its founding, the foundation has been strengthened by additional donations, including from Anni Kreienberg (150,000 DM) and Prof. Dr. Heide Barmeyer-Hartlieb (€50,000), and has since also supported the subjects of Latin, Greek, and Religion.
