About the funder
The Bavarian Protestant Environmental Foundation "For the Sake of Creation" is a non-independent foundation based in Munich. It was established in 2005 and is supported by the church association "Schöpfung bewahren konkret e.V.," founded in 1995. The foundation promotes environmental protection projects within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria (ELKB), including ecological education initiatives, nature conservation, church environmental consulting, renewable energies, as well as securing full-time positions for environmental work. Notable programs include: Cemeteries – Oases for Plants and Animals, and species protection projects for endangered service tree species (Franconian and Hersbruck service tree).

Mission & Vision
The foundation raises awareness for the preservation of creation within the church and promotes and supports the environmental work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. It works ecumenically and understands the protection of natural livelihoods as a matter of faith – "For the sake of creation."
Target groups
Church institutions, congregations, and associations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, as well as ecumenical partners, are supported. Eligible to apply are primarily institutions related to church environmental and climate work in Bavaria. The thematic focus is on nature conservation, ecological education, stewardship of creation, and sustainable lifestyles.
