About the funder

The Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labour and Social Affairs (StMAS) is the highest state authority in Bavaria, operating in the areas of family support, labour market policy, social law, and generational policy. The Division III-1 "Generational and Senior Policy" within Department III develops and coordinates statewide measures to promote the quality of life of older people. It manages funding programs and initiatives such as the action week "At Home in Your Own Home," supports municipalities in senior-friendly neighborhood concepts, and assists senior cooperatives. The goal is to ensure active participation, intergenerational cohesion, and needs-based housing and advisory services for seniors in Bavaria.

Mission & Vision

Department III 1 is committed to promoting a self-determined and age-appropriate life in old age. It supports sustainable structures that enable active participation and adequate care for senior citizens in all areas of life. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life of older people in Bavaria through innovative funding measures and close networking of municipalities, associations, and specialist agencies, and to foster intergenerational cohesion.

Target groups

The funding and advisory services of Division III 1 are aimed at seniors aged approximately 60 and above, as well as municipal and civil society actors engaged in senior citizen work, neighborhood development, or assisted living. Projects supported include those focused on senior mobility, neighborhood assistance, senior-friendly neighborhood concepts, cooperative models, as well as advisory and training services for professionals and volunteers in senior policy.
