About the funder
The Bildungsstiftung Rhenania Freiburg was established in 2006 by alumni of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and is a non-legal entity foundation under the fiduciary administration of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft. It supports talented, performance-oriented, and partly economically disadvantaged students as well as graduates of the University of Freiburg through scholarships, awards, and project funding. Since its founding, funding totaling approximately €168,000 has been provided. The foundation annually awards prizes such as the Eugen Keidel Prize (master’s theses) and the Karl Joseph Beck Prize (dissertations), as well as the founder’s idea award “Pfiffikus,” organizes rhetoric seminars, and supports national and international study stays.

Mission & Vision
The foundation aims to strengthen education and science by providing targeted support to particularly talented and needy students of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg. It believes in the importance of civic engagement and seeks to offer students a platform through scholarships, awards, and accompanying programs to develop their academic and personal potential.
Target groups
Students of all faculties at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg are supported, particularly those in advanced semesters or with a completed degree, who distinguish themselves through outstanding academic achievements, motivation, as well as social and voluntary commitment. Graduates and doctoral candidates may also receive scholarships and awards in the context of their dissertations.
