The Bischof Klaus Hemmerle Foundation for the Promotion of Pastoral Services in the Diocese of Aachen is a legally capable ecclesiastical foundation under private law, established on 02.01.2009. The foundation is sponsored by the public law corporation Diocese of Aachen. The purpose of the foundation is the supplementary financing of positions and projects of pastoral staff as well as the support of training and continuing education measures for priests, deacons, pastoral workers, and parish counselors in the Diocese of Aachen. The foundation’s assets include several trust funds, among others for priestly training, theology students, and high school students. The foundation capital amounted to EUR 988,545.08 at the time of establishment and totaled EUR 1,077,123.50 as of 31.12.2019.

Mission & Vision
The foundation provides financial resources to secure and further develop pastoral services in the Diocese of Aachen. It promotes the training and continuing education of priests, deacons, pastoral workers, and parish advisors, supports pastoral staff in emergency situations, as well as young people on their path to a pastoral profession. The foundation sees itself as a service provider dedicated to strengthening pastoral care and local church engagement.
Target groups
The target groups of the funding measures are pastoral professionals in the Diocese of Aachen – in particular priests, deacons, pastoral counselors, and parish workers – as well as young people aspiring to pastoral training. Projects and fields of work of pastoral staff, training and continuing education programs, initiatives in grief and hospice care, as well as support services for priest candidates and pastoral workers in emergency situations are funded.
