Mission & Vision

The Blinden- und Sehbehindertenstiftung Bayern is committed to enabling blind and visually impaired individuals in the Free State of Bavaria to lead self-determined lives. Through financial support, the promotion of research and education, as well as cultural, sporting, and rehabilitative offerings, it contributes to breaking down barriers, strengthening participation, and fostering societal awareness. In doing so, it operates selflessly and works closely with associations and specialized organizations.

The foundation directs its funding measures towards blind and visually impaired children, adolescents, and adults in the Free State of Bavaria. Currently, approximately 100,000 people are affected, of whom around 70% are over 60 years old. Each year, about 3,000 new cases or accidents result in severe visual impairment. The target group requires support with orientation, reading and writing, educational and professional development, as well as everyday tasks.
