About the funder

The Brandau-Laibach Foundation is a non-profit private foundation based in Cologne, dedicated to promoting scientific research on normal and pathological aging processes, particularly dementia. Since its establishment in 2014, it has provided seed and bridging funding as well as direct grants to clinics and institutes of the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne and the University Hospital Cologne for projects in the field of functional imaging (PET, SPECT, MRI). Current projects include studies on early Alzheimer’s diagnosis and AI-supported brain age profiling. Additionally, the foundation supports initiatives aimed at improving care for elderly and dementia patients at the University Hospital Cologne.

Mission & Vision

The Brandau-Laibach Foundation is committed to advancing neuroscientific and clinically-oriented research on aging and demential diseases at the University Hospital Cologne through financial support and network building. Our goal is to enable scientists and physicians to learn and establish innovative methods in Cologne in order to develop long-term effective therapies and care structures for elderly and dementia-affected individuals.

Target groups

Eligible to apply are clinics and institutes of the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne as well as the University Hospital Cologne (including affiliated research institutes). Funding is provided to scientists and physicians conducting projects on age-related and demential diseases, particularly using methods of functional imaging, as well as events and measures for the education and training of students in basic neuroscientific research.
