About the funder
The Brede Foundation is a civil law foundation based in Bremen, established on December 6, 2005, in honor of Elisabeth and Jürgen Christian Brede. It supports particularly committed students with scholarships for studies in Germany or abroad, study projects, second degrees, or internships. The focus is not solely on the final grade but on the overall profile of the applicants. Well-known programs include: Germany Scholarship for Bionics (since 2016, Bremen University of Applied Sciences), scholarships for building energy technology.

Mission & Vision
Promotion of education and training, including study support, as well as the promotion of science and research – in particular for young talents in technical, engineering, natural sciences, economics, and ecology. Commitment beyond grades: The overall profile of applicants is considered when awarding scholarships.
Target groups
Students enrolled in their first degree program at public or state-recognized universities in Germany – preferably in Bremen – in technical, engineering, natural sciences, economic, or ecological fields of study. Applicants must have completed at least one semester, demonstrate financial need, possess an international profile, and show social commitment.
