About the funder

The Brunswiker Foundation, based in the state capital Kiel, was established in 2000 by the married couple Marion and Ernst Georg Jarchow. As a volunteer-run funding foundation, it supports non-profit institutions and encourages initiated civic initiatives. Its focus areas include the promotion of art, culture, and science, international understanding and reconciliation, critical historical awareness, monument and landscape preservation, as well as the support of museums, collections, libraries, and civic engagement in Schleswig-Holstein.

Mission & Vision

The Brunswiker Foundation is committed to securing existing nonprofit institutions for the long term and promoting civic engagement. It believes in the unifying power of culture, science, and international understanding, and aims to contribute through targeted project funding to the preservation of monuments, critical engagement with history, and the strengthening of civil society in Kiel and Northern Germany.

Target groups

The target group of the Brunswiker Foundation comprises non-profit organizations, cultural and scientific institutions, initiatives for international understanding, as well as sponsors of monument and landscape conservation projects, museums, collections, and libraries in Schleswig-Holstein. Funding is provided to individuals, groups, and institutions that demonstrate civic engagement and aim to make a sustainable contribution to the cultural and social life of the region with their projects.
