Bürger-Stiftung Ostholstein

The Bürger-Stiftung Ostholstein is an independent, non-profit foundation "from Ostholstein – for Ostholstein." Since its founding, it has maintained an endowment currently amounting to €8.2 million. The foundation supports projects in the fields of youth welfare, education and upbringing, sports, environmental and nature conservation, arts and culture, as well as monument preservation. Under its umbrella, over 440 voluntary donors are engaged, collectively pooling capital and contributing their time and ideas to shaping the community. The foundation manages various regional foundation funds, supports project ideas with financial resources, operational guidance, and responsibility, and operates according to the 10 principles of good community foundation practice.

Our mission is to empower citizens to shape and sustainably advance their home region together. We promote voluntary engagement, pool resources and responsibility, and create the framework conditions so that projects and ideas in Ostholstein become effective in the long term. Independence, transparency, and participation are at the core of our actions.

Funding applications can be submitted by non-profit recognized associations, foundations, companies, and public-law corporations based or active in the Ostholstein district. The target groups of our project funding are initiatives and institutions committed to strengthening the community – particularly in the areas of youth, education, social affairs, culture, environment, and monument protection. The Bürger-Stiftung also addresses dedicated private individuals, companies, and organizations wishing to participate as donors, benefactors, or volunteers.
