The Bürgerstiftung Bremen is a non-profit foundation under civil law based in Bremen. Founded on April 24, 2002, by the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, it promotes civic engagement in the areas of education, culture, social affairs, environment, health, intercultural coexistence, as well as civil courage and violence prevention. It is financed through foundation capital, additional endowments, and donations. Furthermore, it annually awards the Hilde Adolf Prize for outstanding voluntary commitment and maintains numerous trust foundations.

Mission & Vision

Under the guiding principle "Moving Bremen Together," the Bürgerstiftung Bremen initiates and supports intergenerational and intercultural projects that strengthen citizen participation, promote social cohesion, and develop sustainable communities in Bremen.
