About the funder
The Bürgerstiftung Bremerhaven is a non-profit foundation under civil law, founded in 2002 by committed citizens. With an endowment now exceeding EUR 3 million, it supports regional projects in the fields of education, culture, social affairs, environment, and integration. It supports and initiates measures that strengthen civic engagement and sustainably improve the quality of life in Bremerhaven and the surrounding area. These include, among others, the "Zeitstifter" project at primary schools, the Bürger-Brunch for school breakfasts, sub-foundations such as the Foundation for Animal and Nature Conservation, as well as emergency aid for non-profit initiatives.

Together. For Tomorrow. The Bürgerstiftung Bremerhaven promotes civic engagement and civil society projects to make the region sustainable for the future. We bring together donors, sponsors, and volunteers to realize creative ideas in an unbureaucratic and lasting manner. We create networks between business, administration, civil society, and science, thereby enabling sustainable solutions to current challenges.
Target groups
The funding programs of the Bürgerstiftung Bremerhaven are aimed at non-profit organizations, associations, and initiatives in Bremerhaven and the surrounding area, as well as individuals and groups who wish to contribute to education, culture, social participation, integration, or environmental and nature conservation with their projects. Special emphasis is placed on supporting disadvantaged children and youth (e.g., reading mentors, school breakfast), cultural coexistence, and the support of volunteer actors.
