About the funder

The Bürgerstiftung Dorfgemeinschaft Harkebrügge was founded in 2018 on the initiative of the local action group and aims to secure the quality of life and community cohesion in the village of Harkebrügge (municipality of Barßel) in the long term. With an initial endowment of €50,000 – currently, over 121 donors have entrusted more than €80,350 to the foundation – it promotes charitable and benevolent projects locally. Measures implemented to date include, among others: the conversion of the former parsonage into a local heritage house, the construction of a new group room in the St. Marien kindergarten, the purchase of a sewing machine for the Kolping youth workshop (a donation of €959), the installation of information boards at the village stele (“Victory Column”), as well as village activities such as awarding prizes for insect hotels as part of the Year of the Insect. Furthermore, the foundation supports youth and elderly care, sports (especially youth sports), monument preservation, local heritage, art and culture, as well as nature conservation and landscape management.
