About the funder

The Bürgerstiftung EmscherLippe-Land is an independent, non-profit foundation established by citizens for citizens in the cities of Waltrop, Castrop-Rauxel, Datteln, Lünen, and Oer-Erkenschwick. Founded in June 2005 on the initiative of Volksbank eG Waltrop, it supports projects in the fields of education and upbringing, arts, culture and monument preservation, international understanding, nature and animal protection, social assistance, as well as grassroots and youth sports through the proceeds of a permanent endowment.

Mission & Vision

The Bürgerstiftung EmscherLippe-Land aims to strengthen the shared responsibility and voluntary commitment of citizens to their region and to contribute to the positive development of the EmscherLippe area. It sees itself as an independent platform where private individuals, companies, and organizations jointly implement social projects and enhance the quality of life locally.

Target groups

The funding is aimed at non-profit initiatives, associations, schools, and individuals from the cities of Waltrop, Castrop-Rauxel, Datteln, Lünen, and Oer-Erkenschwick. Projects with a regional focus are supported, particularly educational and cultural projects, social assistance for children, adolescents, the elderly, and people with disabilities, environmental and animal protection, as well as grassroots and youth sports, when public funds are not available or are insufficient.
