About the funder

The Bürgerstiftung Erlangen was founded in 2003 on the initiative of then Mayor Dr. Siegfried Balleis and under the leadership of Rudolf Schloßbauer. It consolidates the capital of numerous private donors and funds to sustainably promote civic engagement in Erlangen. With the proceeds from endowments and donations, the foundation supports both individual emergencies of residents and charitable projects in the fields of education, child, youth, and elderly care, charitable purposes, environmental and nature conservation, public health, as well as international relations.

Mission & Vision

Under the motto "Citizens for Citizens," the foundation promotes voluntary engagement in Erlangen with the goal of strengthening the common good of the people living there. It focuses on the areas of education and upbringing, child, youth and elderly care, general charitable purposes, environmental and nature conservation, public health care, and the fostering of international contacts.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Bürgerstiftung Erlangen are aimed at all citizens of the city of Erlangen. This includes individuals, families, as well as non-profit initiatives and organizations in emergency and crisis situations. Special focus is placed on projects for children, adolescents, single parents, seniors, and people facing financial or social hardships.
