Bürgerstiftung Norderney

Bürgerstiftung Norderney is a non-profit foundation under civil law, founded in 2003 and based on the North Sea island of Norderney. As an independent platform of citizens for citizens, it sees itself as part of the community and promotes idealistic, material, and voluntary engagement for the common good. The foundation initiates, implements, and supports projects and grants in the fields of education and upbringing, youth and elderly care, arts and culture, science and research, environmental and nature conservation, local heritage preservation, health and sports, as well as charitable purposes. The goal is to secure the quality of life and future viability of the island of Norderney in the long term through endowments, donations, and income from the foundation’s assets.

The Bürgerstiftung Norderney is committed to sustainably promoting the common good on the island of Norderney by serving as an independent platform that motivates citizens to contribute their time, ideas, and financial resources. It strengthens the community, supports local projects across diverse areas, and helps ensure that all island residents take shared responsibility for their community.

The Bürgerstiftung Norderney is aimed at all citizens of the island of Norderney as well as local non-profit organizations, associations, and initiatives that wish to implement projects in the fields of education, youth and elderly care, arts and culture, science, environmental and nature conservation, heritage preservation, health and sports, or charitable causes. At the same time, it addresses potential endowers, donors, and volunteers who want to engage materially or ideologically for the common good.
