Mission & Vision
As the Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs, the BMI is responsible for the liberal democratic constitutional order, social cohesion, and the modernization of the state and administration. Our goal is to establish reliable security and integration structures, promote digital administrative processes, and continuously improve the framework conditions for sports, volunteer work, and civic engagement. In doing so, we work in partnership with federal states, municipalities, and civil society actors for the benefit of all citizens.
Target groups
Funding programs of the BMI are primarily aimed at sports organizations in Germany – this includes national sports federations, national and regional sports clubs, as well as institutions and associations of elite sports. Athletes can receive financial support for training and competition conditions through their respective federations. A prerequisite is a cooperative partnership with public authorities at the federal, state, and municipal levels; funding is provided subsidiarily, complementing other sources of financing.
