About the funder

The Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (BML) is a supreme federal authority of the Republic of Austria. It is responsible for agricultural and forestry policy, promotes sustainable development in rural areas, manages measures for climate and environmental protection, coordinates regional planning and water management, and represents Austria in relevant European and international bodies. The ministry is divided into several departments, including the Presidium Department, and operates specialist units, federal teaching and research institutions, as well as service centers to provide information and support to stakeholders.

Mission & Vision

Through evidence-based policy advice, the promotion of innovations, and close cooperation with stakeholders, we aim to ensure resource conservation, biodiversity, and supply security while balancing social, economic, and ecological aspects.

Target groups

The activities and funding programs of the BML are aimed at farmers, forestry enterprises, municipalities, research institutions, environmental and nature conservation organizations, as well as other stakeholders in the fields of climate and environmental protection, regional development, and water management. Educational institutions, students, teachers, and interested citizens also benefit from the Ministry's information and service centers.
