About the funder

Section I "Business Location, Innovation and Internationalization" of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism (BMWET) is responsible for the sustainable development of Austria's business location. It pursues measures to promote growth and stability, creates business-friendly framework conditions, and particularly supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in investments in research, technological development, and innovation. Furthermore, it strengthens the international competitiveness of Austrian exporters and investors through targeted internationalization initiatives and participation in EU and global market strategies.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to establish Austria as an attractive business location and to pave the way for sustainable growth. We improve the framework conditions for entrepreneurship, promote investments in research and development, and foster the innovative capacity of domestic companies. At the same time, we strengthen the global competitiveness of Austrian exporters and investors through targeted international market strategies.

Target groups

The funding and support programs of Section I are primarily aimed at companies of all sizes, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in industry, research, and development. Additionally, they target exporters, investors, and innovation actors who benefit from the internationally oriented measures and frameworks to secure their competitiveness at both national and global levels.
