About the funder
The Carina Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Herford that has focused since 2004 on promoting education, upbringing, and early childhood development in the city and district of Herford. It initiates and supports practice-oriented, often scientifically accompanied projects in daycare centers and schools, such as "Chancenreich," "Kita & Co.," "Schlaufuchs," and the "Studienfonds OWL." In doing so, it works closely with municipal partners, professionals, and volunteers to improve equal opportunities and sustainably support families and children in the region.

Mission & Vision
The Carina Foundation invests in education, upbringing, and communication from the very beginning. It aims to contribute to equal opportunities at the local level by bringing together experienced partners in daycare centers and schools, promoting proven practical approaches, and providing early support services when needed. Its goal is a successful collaboration of all actors in education, upbringing, and care for the benefit of families and children in the region.
Target groups
The funding programs of the Carina Foundation are primarily aimed at children, adolescents, and families in the city and district of Herford. This includes preschool and primary school children in more than 100 daycare centers and schools within the framework of "Kita & Co." and "Chancenreich," students from grade 6 onwards at the Herford grammar schools and the Friedenstal comprehensive school ("Schlaufuchs" scholarships), university students from the Herford district at the five universities of Ostwestfalen-Lippe (Study Fund OWL), as well as professionals and volunteers from educational and social sectors who participate in the foundation's training and networking offerings.
