About the funder

The Carl Orff Foundation is a non-profit public foundation under civil law based in Dießen am Ammersee. It is the sole sponsor of the COMU Carl Orff Museum and is dedicated to preserving and conveying the artistic and educational legacy of the composer Carl Orff (1895–1982). With the COMU, the foundation creates an interactive space for music education, research, and cultural exchange. It carried out the careful restoration of the historic residential and working house as well as the construction of a highly insulated new museum building with an investment volume of around 11 million euros.

Mission & Vision

The Carl Orff Foundation promotes the legacy of Carl Orff as a place of education, communication, and inspiration. It understands the COMU as an intergenerational and intercultural institution that provides interdisciplinary access to Orff's life, work, and Schulwerk. The goal is to dismantle barriers, be regionally rooted while simultaneously internationally connected, and to make music and art accessible through participatory and sustainable offerings.

Target groups

The offerings of the Carl Orff Foundation are aimed at families as well as culture and music enthusiasts of all ages, schools and educational institutions, further training centers, rehabilitation and social facilities, people with impairments and disabilities, the national and international Orff community, as well as academic users and researchers.
