City Stiftung Berlin

The City Stiftung Berlin is a legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Berlin. It represents the commitment of Berlin’s citizens and serves the common good by creating a livable and lovable urban space in Berlin and Brandenburg. Under the emblem "The Blue Heart," the foundation has been promoting the cultural development of inner-city areas since 2004 through temporary cultural installations—such as light installations on streets, squares, monuments, and urban furniture—and brings together people, companies, and institutions for this purpose. It initiates and supports projects in the fields of art and culture, education and upbringing, youth welfare, sports, international understanding, as well as assistance for people in difficult life situations and for children and young people. Among its best-known formats are the Festival of Lights, the AQUARELLA light tour on the Spree, and the international picnic DELICANTO.

The City Stiftung Berlin is committed to creating a vibrant, humane, and attractive urban space in Berlin and Brandenburg. Through cultural projects and civic engagement, it aims to enhance the quality of life in the city, assist people in difficult life situations, and connect generations and cultures. Under the symbol of the Blue Heart, it promotes tolerance, generosity, and foresight, offering citizens a platform for personal commitment.

The funding programs of the City Stiftung Berlin are aimed at citizens of all age groups in Berlin and Brandenburg, particularly children and young people to promote education, upbringing, and youth welfare; individuals in difficult life situations and socially disadvantaged persons; cultural workers and artists for temporary cultural productions; companies, institutions, and volunteers committed to creating a livable urban environment; as well as international partners and embassies for fostering international understanding.
