Claus Hüppe-Stiftung

Private foundation

About the funder

The Claus Hüppe Foundation was established in 1990 by the Oldenburg entrepreneur, patron, and art collector Claus Hüppe (1924–2009) as a private foundation under civil law. The purpose of the foundation is the direct and indirect promotion of science and research, education and upbringing, art and culture, as well as youth welfare and the support of sick and needy individuals. Since its inception, the foundation’s focus has been on art and culture: among other initiatives, in 1995 the foundation established the "Claus Hüppe Foundation Hall" as an extension to the Oldenburg City Museum and played a key role in the establishment and operation of the Horst Janssen Museum Oldenburg. Other projects include the Horst Janssen Graphic Art Prize, awarded every three years with an endowment of €20,000, readings by the poet Arne Rautenberg at schools, and the main sponsorship of KulturTafel Oldenburg e. V.
