About the funder

The CMS Stiftung GmbH is a non-profit foundation founded in 2015 by the international law firm CMS Germany, based in Stuttgart. Under the guiding principle "Access to Justice. For All." it supports non-profit organizations in the three areas of Access to Justice, Legal Empowerment, and Community Engagement. In addition to financial support, it offers time, networks, and professional expertise to strengthen structures, enable legal advice, and promote voluntary engagement. In crisis situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic or the Ukraine war, the foundation provides immediate, unbureaucratic emergency aid.

Mission & Vision

"Access to justice. For all." is the mission of CMS Stiftung GmbH. Every person, regardless of origin, social status, or financial means, should be able to benefit from the opportunities of our constitutional state. Together with funding and cooperation partners, the foundation relies on openness, partnership, and impact to dismantle barriers and strengthen social participation.

Target groups

CMS Stiftung GmbH targets non-profit organizations as defined by the German Fiscal Code, which operate in the areas of legal advice for people in need (Access to Justice), knowledge transfer and capacity building (Legal Empowerment), as well as volunteer legal counseling (Community Engagement). Indirectly, people in socio-economic distress, refugees, and those affected by physical and psychological violence benefit from the funded projects.
