About the funder

The Benno and Therese Danner Arts and Crafts Foundation was established in 1920 in Munich and is a legal foundation under civil law. Its endowment assets consist of real estate, securities, and additional donations. For over one hundred years, the Danner Foundation has supported arts and crafts in Bavaria through financial grants for publications, projects, investments, scholarships, class competitions at vocational schools and academies, as well as through the triennially awarded Danner Prize. Furthermore, it organizes exhibitions, competitions, and discussion forums (Danner Talk), acquires exemplary arts and crafts works for its collections, and makes them publicly accessible.

Mission & Vision

To financially support artisans and to foster greater appreciation for handicrafts in society, thereby promoting the future of handicrafts – this is the founder's intention and our mission.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at individuals with exceptional skills and motivation in the applied arts who reside or are in training in Bavaria, particularly journeymen, apprentices, and students at vocational schools and academies. Support is provided to individuals and groups who advance the quality, individuality, and sustainability of applied arts through innovative designs, projects, or competition entries, thereby strengthening its position in society and the arts.
