DAV Stiftung Contra Rechtsextremismus und Gewalt

The foundation "Contra Right-Wing Extremism: A Foundation of the German Bar Association – Designated Funds" was established in 2001 by the German Bar Association (DAV). It is a non-independent designated fund managed by the DAV and is financed exclusively through donations and contributions. Its purpose is to provide needy victims of right-wing extremist or politically motivated violence with quick and unbureaucratic access to legal advice and representation. The foundation grants cost advances and, after the completion of legal advice and/or court representation, covers the remaining fees insofar as these cannot be compensated by reimbursements from the state treasury, legal expenses insurance, or reasonable personal contributions. All administrative costs are borne by the DAV and are not financed from the foundation's income. To date, the foundation has been able to provide assistance in over 500 cases.

We believe in the protection and preservation of the democratic constitutional order. Therefore, we support victims of right-wing extremist and politically motivated acts of violence who, due to their psychological distress and lack of financial resources, would otherwise have no access to qualified legal advice. We are convinced that prompt and unbureaucratic legal assistance is indispensable in the interest of the victims and the rule of law.

The target group of the foundation consists of needy victims of right-wing extremist or politically motivated acts of violence in Germany. This includes individuals who have become targets of extremist violence due to their origin, personal commitment, or other characteristics, and who cannot afford legal representation. The foundation is aimed at those affected who are in psychological distress and require immediate legal advice and representation, whether as co-plaintiffs in criminal proceedings or in civil law to enforce claims for damages.
