Mission & Vision
Our mission is to ensure a vibrant, diverse cultural landscape and a pluralistic, independent media system in Germany. We support innovative projects, preserve cultural heritage, strengthen the creative industries, and create access for all population groups. In partnership with federal states, municipalities, professional associations, and civil society actors, we contribute to enabling widespread cultural participation and sustainably anchoring a culture of remembrance.
Target groups
The funding programs of the BKM are aimed at professional artists, cultural and media institutions, as well as actors in the cultural and creative industries at the federal level. These include, among others, film and media producers, museums, archives, libraries, memorials, literary organizers, publishers, festivals, and freelance artists. Both individuals and associations or legal entities that contribute to cultural diversity and media plurality in Germany are supported.
