About the funder

The German Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation is a legally recognized charitable foundation under civil law based in Berlin. It was established by the German Hospice and Palliative Care Association (Deutscher Hospiz- und PalliativVerband e. V.) to promote hospice and palliative care work in Germany in the fields of education, science and research, public health care, and charitable activities. The foundation utilizes public and private, philanthropically motivated funds for programs and projects aimed at the theoretical and practical advancement of hospice culture and palliative care. These include measures for the training and further education of full-time and volunteer staff, public relations, quality assurance, and research initiatives, the results of which are made widely accessible.

Mission & Vision

At the heart of its commitment lies the dignity of the individual at the end of life, as well as the preservation of their greatest possible autonomy and quality of life. The Deutsche Hospiz- und PalliativStiftung affirms life and provides active support for a dignified life until the very end. Through financial support, networking, and public relations, it aims to further develop, qualify, and sustainably strengthen hospice work and palliative care both substantively and structurally.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at seriously ill and dying people in Germany as well as their relatives. In addition, they address full-time and volunteer staff in hospice and palliative care services, healthcare professionals, scientific institutions, and non-profit organizations engaged in education, research, care, and support at the end of life.
