Deutsche Kinderkrebsnachsorge – Stiftung für das chronisch kranke Kind
About the funder
The Deutsche Kinderkrebsnachsorge – Foundation for the Chronically Ill Child is a non-profit private foundation, established on December 9, 1990, as the Klausjürgen Wussow Foundation. It promotes nationwide family-oriented aftercare programs for children, adolescents, and young adults with severe chronic illnesses (cancer, heart defects, cystic fibrosis) as well as for bereaved families. As the operator of the Tannheim Aftercare Clinic (since 1997) and shareholder of the Berlin-Brandenburg Children’s Aftercare Clinic, it supports rehabilitation, holiday apartments, aid funds, and research. Volunteer committees (foundation board, foundation council, advisory board, scientific advisory committee) and full-time staff ensure the efficient use of donated funds.

Mission & Vision
"Together alongside sick children" is the guiding principle and daily basis of our work. The foundation's goal and purpose are to promote, expand, and further develop family-oriented aftercare for chronically ill children, adolescents, young adults, and their relatives, as well as for bereaved families. The needs of the affected children and their families are at the center of our efforts. The foundation is committed to the values of fairness, tolerance, and equal opportunity and advocates for the establishment of family-oriented rehabilitation as a statutory entitlement.
Target groups
The programs are aimed at children, adolescents, and young adults with severe chronic illnesses (cancer, congenital heart defects, cystic fibrosis), their parents, siblings, and relatives, as well as bereaved families who have lost a child due to illness or accident. The foundation supports those affected through inpatient rehabilitation measures (family-oriented rehabilitation, youth rehabilitation, rehabilitation for bereaved families), holiday apartments, financial assistance from the relief fund, informational materials, and social law counseling.
