The Deutsche Kinderschutzstiftung Hänsel + Gretel is a non-profit foundation based in Karlsruhe-Durlach that has been committed since 1997 to the protection and empowerment of children and adolescents in Germany. With over 520 diverse projects in the areas of prevention, counseling, education, and recognition (e.g., German Child Protection Award, Safe Haven, STRONG CHILDREN BOX!, FFIPS, Hänsel+Gretel Heart Award), the foundation reaches several tens of thousands of children, adolescents, their families, as well as professionals in schools, daycare centers, and social institutions annually.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to ensure that no child is lost: The German Child Protection Foundation Hänsel + Gretel protects and empowers children and adolescents from physical, emotional, and sexualized violence. We develop practical prevention programs, support innovative projects, and create structures for sustainable child protection throughout Germany. With passion, expertise, and transparency, we aim to provide children with safe spaces and raise awareness among society and policymakers about their rights.

Target groups

The foundation’s funding and project work is aimed at: children and adolescents in Germany, especially primary school children and kindergarten children; schools, kindergartens, and non-profit organizations implementing child protection and prevention programs; parents, teachers, and professionals (e.g., social workers, educational staff) working in preventive and advisory roles; initiatives, municipalities, and sponsors that carry out child protection projects or wish to establish partner programs such as the Safe Haven.
