About the funder
The German Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (DMS Foundation) is a non-profit foundation based in Hanover, dedicated to promoting research projects aimed at clarifying the causes, cure, and therapy of multiple sclerosis, as well as providing financial support to MS patients and their relatives in material distress. It maintains a relief fund for those affected in emergency situations, a regeneration fund for relaxation and rehabilitation, and targeted research funding in close coordination with the Medical Advisory Board of the DMSG Federal Association. In addition, the foundation operates the German MS Register in cooperation with the MS Research and Project Development Company (MSFP) gGmbH, which collects and expands therapy- and research-relevant data.

Mission & Vision
Our mission is to expand the understanding of the causes and mechanisms of multiple sclerosis, to promote effective cures and therapies, to provide unbureaucratic financial assistance to MS patients and their families in times of need, and to advance research nationally and internationally through data collection in the German MS Registry.
Target groups
The funding programs of the DMS Foundation are aimed at MS patients in Germany and their caregiving relatives in demonstrable financial hardship, MS patients requiring therapeutic relaxation or rehabilitation for disease management, scientific institutions, clinical studies and individual projects in the field of multiple sclerosis, as well as operators and users of the German MS Registry, which annually records around 15,000 patient data entries and makes them accessible to international research networks.
