About the funder

The German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering (DSEE) is a nationwide public law foundation established on June 23, 2020, headquartered in Neustrelitz (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania). It was initiated by several federal ministries as a result of the Commission "Equivalent Living Conditions" and is jointly funded by the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The DSEE offers volunteers and their organizations concrete support, advisory and networking services, as well as financial funding to strengthen voluntary engagement and to develop structures in rural and structurally weak regions.

Mission & Vision

Our mission: We strengthen volunteerism. We support volunteers and their organizations concretely with diverse funding, networking, advisory, and educational services, and give voluntary engagement in Germany the recognition it deserves.

Target groups

The offerings of the DSEE are aimed at individuals engaged in voluntary work, as well as at non-profit and volunteer-run organizations throughout Germany – with a special focus on initiatives in structurally weak and rural areas. The goal is to support and network existing volunteers, as well as to attract and retain new volunteers for diverse projects in the long term.
