The Deutsche Umweltstiftung was founded on March 31, 1982, in Mainz and is a non-profit community foundation that is politically and economically independent. With over 3,500 donors, it is one of the largest and oldest community foundations in Germany. The foundation initiates, supports, and accompanies environmental and nature conservation projects at both local and supra-regional levels and supports research and educational measures as well as practical nature conservation initiatives. Activities include, among others, conferences, publications, expert reports, and the crowdfunding platform ecocrowd.

Mission & Vision
"Hope through Action" is the unifying motto of the foundation. Its goal is to establish environmental and nature conservation as a guiding principle for all human activities – in politics and research, in educational institutions, churches, businesses, and everyday private life. The foundation supports learning processes and concrete measures to protect, preserve, and safeguard the natural foundations of life for future generations.
