About the funder
The Innovation Foundation for Education (ISB) is a foundation established by the Innovation Foundation Education Act, based in Vienna, acting as a neutral intermediary in the public education sector. It promotes educational innovations through programs, co-foundations, calls for proposals (e.g., Changemaker Community), the ISB Foundation Award for Educational Innovation, and support services such as workshops, observation programs, and publications. The ISB connects stakeholders from schools, kindergartens, academia, and political administration to sustainably develop the Austrian education system into a future-proof and innovation-driven system.

Mission & Vision
The Innovation Foundation for Education aims to make Austria’s education system future-proof by enhancing its capacity for innovation. It promotes a deep understanding of change processes and supports schools, kindergartens, and educational organizations in translating creative ideas into impactful projects. The ISB creates platforms for co-foundations, programs, and community building, striving for evidence-based, interdisciplinary, and sustainable educational development.
Target groups
The funding programs of the ISB are aimed at public and private educational institutions in Austria – in particular kindergartens, schools of all levels and types, as well as educators and school administrations. Additionally, it supports civil society and private education developers who wish to establish co-foundations together with the ISB. Scientific partners, education policymakers, and recipients of third-party funding also belong to the target group.
