The Dieter Salch Foundation Pro Universitate was established in 1991 to promote scientific research and teaching at the Bavarian Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg, particularly at the Faculty of Law. The founder, Senator e.h. Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter Salch, has since increased the foundation's capital twelve times on various academic occasions. Since 2011, the foundation has additionally supported the Chair of Franconian Regional History and the Research Center for the Teutonic Order, established on the founder's initiative.
