About the funder

The Dr. Robert Pfleger Foundation is a non-profit public foundation under civil law based in Bamberg. It supports medical research projects and social-charitable initiatives, particularly for individuals in need. Every two years, it awards the Robert Pfleger Research Prize, endowed with 50,000 euros, for outstanding scientific achievements in medicine. The foundation was established on September 24, 1974, following Dr. Robert Pfleger's directive that his pharmaceutical companies and private assets be transferred to the foundation upon his death. Since then, it has been the owner of Dr. Pfleger Arzneimittel GmbH and uses part of the proceeds for charitable purposes.
