The Dorit & Alexander Otto Foundation was established on February 17, 2011, by Dorit and Alexander Otto. It is a non-profit private foundation based in Hamburg that supports sustainable and impactful projects in the areas of health, social affairs, culture, as well as environment and species conservation. Since its inception, 78 projects have been supported with a total funding volume of EUR 41.9 million. The foundation is primarily financed through donations from the founding couple and operates mainly in Hamburg, but is increasingly expanding its commitment internationally – for example, in Amazon rainforest programs and WWF species conservation projects.

Target groups
The foundation generally supports non-profit organizations and public law entities, primarily in Hamburg but also in an international context. Funded are institutions and projects in the fields of healthcare and research, youth and elderly care, education and upbringing, social welfare, environmental and climate protection, as well as arts and culture. Individuals are generally not supported.
