About the funder

The Dr. Carl and Ellen Klöss Foundation was established in 2009 as a legally recognized foundation under civil law in Obertshausen, in accordance with the wishes of Dr. Carl Klöss and his wife Ellen Klöss. From an initial cash endowment of €500,000, which was quickly increased to approximately €2 million, as well as properties valued at around €2 million, the foundation generates annual revenues of approximately €30,000 to €40,000. A five-member board, consisting of members from the city administration and other distinguished individuals, manages the foundation’s capital and decides on the allocation of funds. The foundation is recognized as a non-profit organization and is supervised by the Darmstadt Regional Council.
