About the funder

The Dr. Hanns Simon Foundation was established on the occasion of the 60th birthday of its founder, Dr. Hanns Simon, and initially endowed with assets of 1 million DM from shares in the Bitburger Brewery. Since then, it has been promoting cultural life in Bitburg and the Eifel region. A visible symbol of this support is the Beda Cultural Center, which houses the Fritz von Wille Museum, the New Gallery, and the municipal library. The foundation also supports youth and music scholarships, initiatives, and associations that enrich the local artistic and cultural offerings.

Mission & Vision

Our goal is to sustainably strengthen the intellectual and cultural life in Bitburg and to bring joy, cheerfulness, and community to people through culture, music, literature, and visual arts. Through our funding, we aim to contribute "to the moral improvement, to cheerfulness, joy, sunshine, and perhaps also a bit of love in our city."

Target groups

Eligible for funding are individual cultural creators and groups, in particular artists, musicians, and authors, as well as non-profit associations and institutions in the Eifel/Bitburg region. Additionally, municipal and supra-regional projects, youth and music scholarships, as well as cultural educational institutions are supported, provided they make an innovative or sustainable contribution to cultural diversity and quality of life in the city and district.
