Dr. Heio und Brita Steffens Stiftung

The Dr. Heio and Brita Steffens Foundation is a non-profit, legally capable foundation under civil law based in Neunburg vorm Wald (Schwandorf district). It supports science and research, public and vocational education, monument protection, monument preservation, local heritage and local history, as well as traditional customs. The primary beneficiaries are the Sternenfreunde Dieterskirchen e.V. association and the Heimatverein Seebarn e.V. local heritage association. The focus is on supporting astronomical education and research (including the construction and operation of a public observatory and a planetarium) as well as the preservation of rural culture and museum exhibits in the Upper Palatinate region.

The foundation aims to inspire enthusiasm for natural sciences and astronomy, deepen scientific understanding among the public, and preserve traditional local culture. It supports young people, educational institutions, and cultural associations through financial and material contributions to sustainably promote innovation, research, and cultural heritage in the Upper Palatinate.

Supported are: astronomy enthusiasts of all age groups, especially children and adolescents (schools, youth holiday programs); researchers and amateur astronomers (Sternenfreunde Dieterskirchen e.V.); cultural and local heritage associations (Heimatverein Seebarn e.V.); institutions and projects in the fields of monument protection, monument preservation, and traditional crafts in the Upper Palatinate; public institutions and initiatives that carry out charitable activities in accordance with the foundation's statutes.
