About the funder

The foundation was established as a legal entity by testamentary disposition of Dr. Hildegard Dinter, née Lutz, on November 11, 2002. It is dedicated to the promotion of science and research in the field of brain tumor research and therapy. Additionally, it supports related areas such as immunobiology of malignant tumors, virology, molecular and cell biology, medicinal plant research, as well as medical-technical and energy science research. Annually, it awards the Dr. Hildegard Dinter-Lutz Research Prize, endowed with 5,000 euros, for outstanding scientific work in the field of brain tumor research and therapy. The award is granted by the foundation’s board based on the recommendation of the Society for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology (GPOH). The foundation’s assets amount to approximately 620,000 euros, with an annual funding volume of about 10,000 euros.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to support young early-career researchers in the German-speaking region through the Dr. Hildegard Dinter-Lutz Research Award. We promote innovative clinical-experimental and translational research projects that contribute to improving the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric brain tumors. In doing so, we make a sustainable contribution to the advancement of neuro-oncology and strengthen the international networking of young researchers.

Target groups

The foundation is aimed at early-career researchers with a doctorate from the fields of medicine and biosciences in the German-speaking region. Applicants must not be older than 36 years at the time of application. Funding is provided for patient-oriented research in the field of pediatric brain tumor research, whose results make a significant contribution to improving the diagnosis or treatment of childhood brain tumors.
