About the funder

The Dr. Melitta Berkemann Foundation was endowed by Dr. Melitta Berkemann, granddaughter of the founder of the traditional company Berkemann (foot orthopedics), with her entire inheritance. The foundation's statutory purpose is to sustainably promote and effectively support medical projects—particularly in the field of orthopedics. It finances and accompanies scientific research at universities and clinics, awards scholarships, subsidizes travel expenses and capital investments, and provides individual support to researchers. The foundation is managed by a three-member board consisting of two orthopedic experts and an auditor/tax advisor, and is committed to the advancement of orthopedic science and practice.
