About the funder
The EDEN FOUNDATION for the Promotion of Natural Lifestyle and Health Care is a private foundation based in Essen, administered by the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany. It was recognized as a legal foundation on November 6, 1962, and continues the tradition of the non-profit Eden Fruit Growing Cooperative (founded in 1893). The foundation supports science, research, and education in the fields of whole food nutrition and vegetarianism, ecological agriculture and horticulture, as well as naturopathy and holistic medicine. Notable ongoing funding includes: Working Group on Nutritional Ecology (since 1994), Student Working Group on Nutritional Ecology (since 1986), Summer Academies and Spring Academies.

Mission & Vision
The EDEN FOUNDATION continues the life reform tradition and offers nature-based answers to questions regarding the role of humans in their environment as well as lifestyle and health care. It supports research and educational projects on sustainable nutrition, ecological agriculture, and integrative medicine to promote health among broad segments of the population.
Target groups
Non-profit institutions from German-speaking countries that are tax-exempt for science/research or education (e.g., universities, research institutions, educational organizations) are eligible for funding. Individuals can only be supported within the framework of scholarships. Projects must be assignable to one of the three funding areas and must not be completed. Large-scale projects are excluded; partial funding is possible.
