About the funder

The Edgar Bähr Foundation is an independent private foundation based in Kleinblittersdorf (Hanweiler district) in Saarland. It was established in 2012 by the businessman Edgar Bähr (1939–2015), who transferred the majority of his assets as well as majority shares in ProGreen GmbH to the foundation. The foundation provides charitable and selfless support to people in need in southern Saarland: people with disabilities and their relatives, as well as needy individuals in elderly care, nursing, hospice, and palliative care facilities. All activities are carried out on a voluntary basis.

Mission & Vision

"Supporting those who need it" – the foundation pursues the charitable and selfless support of needy individuals in their home region of South Saarland, complementing public assistance without replacing it.

Target groups

Target groups are people with disabilities as well as their relatives and needy individuals in elderly, nursing, hospice, and palliative care facilities. The geographic funding focus is exclusively on the South Saarland region. Funding applications may also be submitted by tax-privileged organizations pursuing these purposes.
