About the funder

The non-profit Edmund Siemers Foundation was established on November 29, 1995, and is dedicated to the common good in Hamburg, Northern Germany, and beyond. It follows the tradition of the merchant and patron Edmund J. A. Siemers and supports projects both operationally and ideologically in the fields of education & upbringing, youth and community work, as well as nature and environmental protection. Activities include awarding scholarships for European integration, supporting international exchange programs, organizing seminars and conferences, and long-term environmental projects such as "Este-Wümme" for the protection of waters and floodplains.

It aims to contribute to the sustainable development of society and the environment through material and ideal support.

The target groups include, in particular, pupils, students, early-career professionals, youth facilities, educational initiatives, and environmental projects related to Hamburg, Northern Germany, or the European integration of Central and Eastern European countries.
