Egon Gmyrek Stiftung

Private foundation

About the funder

The Egon Gmyrek Foundation bR was established in 2012 by the Gmyrek family in Gifhorn to promote social projects in the region based on Christian-social values such as charity, solidarity, tolerance, and equal opportunities. The foundation’s namesake, Egon Gmyrek, had built a successful family business in Gifhorn after fleeing as a displaced person and wishes to give back the support he himself received through the foundation. The foundation is committed to child protection, early childhood education, family assistance, and social inclusion. In close partnership with the Catholic parish of St. Altfrid and local organizations, it implements initiatives in an unbureaucratic manner to support disadvantaged children, families, and other groups in need within a 60-kilometer radius of Gifhorn.

Mission & Vision

We aim to strengthen the social self-determination of children and families and to shape civil society through straightforward, targeted, and swift support. In doing so, we are guided by the core values of Christian social teaching – charity, solidarity, responsibility, tolerance, and participation. Our actions are intended to contribute to equal opportunities, social justice, and respectful coexistence.

Target groups

The Egon Gmyrek Foundation bR supports children in their early formative years, particularly those in challenging family or social situations, as well as families in need of financial, material, or psychosocial assistance. Furthermore, it promotes institutions and organizations that run projects in child protection, early childhood education, or family support, and cooperates with volunteers and network partners who provide intergenerational services in the Gifhorn area.
